Weekly Vikings Rundown

Ok, here's a rundown of the Minnesota Vikings this week.

First off, Mike Tice can kiss Minnesota good-bye. He was fired hours after Minnesota crushed Da' Bears Sunday.

Tuesday, Fred Smoot plead not guilty on charges stemming from the Love Boat cruise last October. Moe Williams followed suit on Thursday, pleading not guilty as well.

Williams and three other players -- Daunte Culpepper, Bryant McKinnie and Fred Smoot -- have been charged with lewd and indecent behavior during a boat party that featured naked and scantily clad women. Williams is accused of getting a lap dance from a woman and touching her breasts in front of crew members, according to a criminal complaint.

All the players have pleaded not guilty. The next court date for all four is Feb. 2. (Source: Star Tribune, Jan. 6, 2006)

I am considering taking Feb. 2nd off to perhaps to a live blog from the hearing.

Of course the biggest Vikes news came out last night. I was contacted by a very credible source last night with the news, a new head coach would officially be named Friday, Brad Childress, Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator to be named the head coach.

Childress will officially be named head coach a press conference today.

I have two pieces of advice for Childress.

1. Anyone can throw a ball. It takes a true leader to be a great quarterback. We all know who I'm talking about.
2. Discipline these guys, not baby them. You're their coach first and foremost, not their friend.

And last, but never least, Nihilist gives us the Top 11 menu items at the Vikings restaurant in Woodbury.
