Klobuchar on Alito

Wow, Klobuchar actually came out on a controversial issue.

"Samuel Alito's record raises serious concerns that he is outside the mainstream legal tradition," Klobuchar, a DFLer, said in a statement. "Moreover, I am not convinced that he would represent the standards of thoughtfulness and independence set by Justice Sandra Day O'Connor" - the justice Alito has been nominated to replace.

Klobuchar said she was concerned that Alito's "ideological agenda" could affect his legal opinions. (Source: AP, Jan. 26, 2006)

Props to Gary for this one.

In related news, Rep. Hausman switched her U.S. Senate endorsement from Klobuchar to Bell.
