Doran's Strategery

Yes, I said strategery.

Trillin has a great post on his/her thoughts on Kelly Doran's strategy.

Part of
Doran's strategy is to use Kiscaden to help get independents to the polls on September 12, when he'll be competing against Becky Lourey and Mike Hatch (and Steve Kelley if hell freezes over).

Kiscaden is the number two Rochester area politician, coming in session
d to Gil Gutknecht. Unfortunately for Doran (and Kiscaden) there is a new favorite politician in Rochester. His name is Gov. Tim Pawlenty. A source of mine said that he was very well received at his radio show in Rochester last week.

The Rochester area is an example of Minnesota as a whole. It's neither Republican or DFL territory and in 2002, Tim Penny did very well in his home area.

Rochester has been trending DFL for years, culminating in last year's election of a pair of Democrats to the Legislature with a third barely losing. After November it will be firmly in Democratic hands. Rochester is a DFL success story and a tale of woe for the GOP. Don't try to spin it otherwise.
