Pawlenty's Great Week

Throughout this week, I have posted numerous times why this week has been bad for certain DFL candidates for governor (Kelly Doran and Steve Kelley). Hatch's loss in the Eibenstiener trial proved to be a devistating blow to his campaign.

On the right side of the asile, Governor Pawlenty is having a great week. For the first time in his term, Minnesota is running a positive balance. This is due largely in part to Gov. Pawlenty's leadership on the last two budget cycles. Minnesota has gone from $4.56 billion in the red for Pawlenty's first budget, to a surplus of $701 million this time around.

A budget 'surplus' that is already spoken for by having to repay payment shifts, all while property taxes continue to skyrocket, is good news for Pawlenty? It is going to be easier than I thought to knock him off next year.

I'm afraid that I have to agree with Mike S. Not that Pawlenty shouldn't have done what he did (except the tax increase). It just won't play well once the Legislature spends it in a couple of days next session.
