Pawlenty Names Russell Anderson New Chief Justice

Gov. Pawlenty chose a sitting justice, Russell Anderson, to be the next Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court. Gov. Carlson first appointed Anderson to the Court in 1998, the same year as outgoing Chief Justice Kathleen Blatz was bumped up. Before joining the Minnesota Supreme Court, Anderson was with the Navy's JAG corps, a Beltrami County attorney and a district judge, appointed to that position by Gov. Quie.

Hennepin County District Judge Lorie S. Gildea will be replacing Anderson as an Associate Justice.
