Strib, your bias is showing (again)

Is being a veteran/congressional candidate worthy of a fluff piece in the Star Tribune? Only if you’re a Democrat.

Tim Walz, a DFL candidate for Congress in the 1st and veteran of the Army National Guard, had a wordy article written about him in yesterday’s Star Tribune. This sort of piece is the kind of earned media every candidate dreams of. Besides Walz, the article mentioned a handful of veteran/candidates in both parties. Sadly, they left out one such Republican candidate from Minnesota: Jay Esmay.

I’m not saying the Star Tribune should be forced to do a piece on Esmay simply because he’s a veteran, I’m just saying that the bias-plagued paper could’ve at least mentioned that Minnesota has another veteran/candidate.

This isn’t the first time Republicans have been looked over in the Star Tribune, and it certainly won’t be the last.
