Romney down and out, for now

Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts has made it abundantly clear that he wants to be the next President of the United States. Problem is, he would need to get reelected Governor of Massachusetts first. Here’s the latest poll:

Sept. 2005
Republican Mitt Romney - 38%
Democrat Thomas Reilly - 53%
Undecided/DK/Ref - 9%
(Source: UMass poll)

Romney, like Gov. Pawlenty, was listed as a possible ’08 nominee because he was a popular Republican governor in a blue state. Romney’s problem seems to be that he and his staff has always seemed to be looking towards 2008 and not 2006. As a result, Romney may lose in ’06 and not get a chance at ’08.

I wasn't aware that the Republican party was going to allow itself to have a Mormon nominee.

He never stood a chance in the first place.
