Oops

Somebody should’ve told the Star Tribune that Phil Krinkie isn’t from Shoreview…after all, that’s in the 4th District, and Krinkie, a candidate for Congress, lives in the 6th District…right?

Phil Krinkie, R-Shoreview, is chairman of the Minnesota House Taxes Committee.

Krinkie does represent Shoreview. Do a little fact checking before you excoriate the Star Tribune for errors.

He doesn't live their NSP...he packed up and moved to a different congressional district when Kennedy announced he'd be running for Senate...

This was more of an underhanded shot at Phil Krinkie being a carpetbagger.

Actually it was probably just a mistake. So what.

The notation R-Shoreview means he is a Republican representing Shoreview. Unless he's resigned that post, he still represents Shoreview.

By the way Krinkie's official legislative page still lists him as living in LINO LAKES. So if the Star Tribune meant for the notation to indicate where he lived and wanted to slam him for being a "carpetbagger", they would have listed him as R-Lino Lakes.

Also... since you brought the term up, here's the definition of "carpetbagger"
An outsider, especially a politician, who presumptuously seeks a position or success in a new locality.

Congratulations on applying the term correctly

Shoreview is the where he lived and represented the district(53A) for 16 years. It is in the 4thCD. However, at the far north end of 53A, lies in the 6thCD.
Sometime in the midle of the night in the last few months he moved to the other side of his district so that he may keep his current seat, AND run for higher office. Of course the House staff that keeps up with this stuff updated his page, but without sending a notice out to the press, or a notice of resignation, there was no alarm to call for confirmation. It's still Shoreview in the Official Blue Book and PIM guide.
He is a carpetbagger.

For those of you who only preach a knowledge of the COnstitution should know that you don't have to live in the district you are trying represent in the U.S. House. So he really didn't have to move.

Didn't the Republicans cry foul when John Hottinger moved to stay in his district that the Republicans redistricted hime out of? Yes. it appears they didn't go to the Tom Delay school of redistricting.
