MDE's Doran wrap-up

MDE has this scoop on Doran Come Lately.

1. Doran will seek the DFL endorsement.

2. Doran hasn't decided if he will adbide by the DFL endorsement.

3. Doran is not going to seek public financing for governor. He will spend what it takes.

4. Doran want to raise the gas-tax.

Doran proved what the GOP said earlier today when they said that Doran is on a “political shopping spree” and essentially is “an impulse buyer.”

So I should vote for Doran because had he been Governor, gas would have been $3.09 during the Katrina gas scare?

Maybe Dick Cheney called him and told him to switch races...

Come on ... don't you have anything better than the Dick Cheney call? That's getting just a wee bit old.

There's a big difference: Pawlenty didn't campaign for FOUR MONTHS before switching races.

Kelly Doran did very very little as far as actual campaigning in those 4 months. He put up billboards, ran two radio ads, and showed up at the state fair. You can attack him for switching, but at least it was his choice. We all know that Coleman really wanted to run for Governor again and Pawlenty really wanted to go for the Senate seat, but Dick Cheney told them otherwise. And it isn't old, it was in THE LAST ELECTION. Jeez, attack him on other things, but it isn't smart to bash the guy for doing the same thing your guy did in the last election.

I actually think that Doran is a pretty likable guy, very together, has a great rags-to-riches story, and can fund his own race.
